New York, NY - Today, Norman Brown, Legislative Director of the New York State Council of Machinists, announced the union’s endorsement of Yetta Kurland in her bid for the New York City Council, 3rd District.
"We have gotten to really know and trust Yetta from her many years of standing alongside and advocating on behalf of the working men and women of labor," said Norman Brown, Legislative Director, New York State Council of Machinists. "She is a true champion of working families and without hesitation we express our confidence that she will be a major force fighting for everyday New Yorkers in the City Council."
"I am thrilled to be endorsed by the New York State Machinists and District 15 IAM," said Ms. Kurland. "This union has spent over a century fighting for the fair working conditions and wages for all workers. I look forward to working with the Machinists as we look to further grow New York’s middle class.”
New York State Council of Machinists and its largest union, District 15 IAM’s endorsements comes on the heels of Yetta Kurland’s already strong backing from the labor community. Yetta has received endorsements from DC37, TWU Local 100 as well as CWA Local 1180-- making her the first endorsement by three major public sector unions for the 2013 City Council elections.
