“I will fight everyday to protect the dignity and self-determination of LGBTQ New Yorkers.”

A long-time Board Member of Marriage Equality New York, Yetta Kurland has been on the front lines of every fight for LGBT equality for over two decades.

She was part of the coalition that won Marriage Equality in New York State. But the work of equality does not end with marriage.  We must pass full protection for all gender expressions.  Federally, the so-called “Defense of Marriage Act” continues to deny legitimacy to New York families.  Yetta will continue that fight.

Over 35% of all homeless youth in New York City identify as LGBT.  Yet the city continues to fund shelters that are not welcoming to this community.  Yetta will make sure that no city money funds shelters that discriminate.
